Formation of Independent Press in Turkistan

Abstract

Among the factors that contributed to the formation of the national
press in Turkestan, Ismail Gasprinsky’s “Tarjimon” newspaper played a
major role. At his page, the “Tarjimon” did not only highlight the problems
of the agenda of Turkestan, but also introduced them to the local elite. If
the first period of the new independent press was formed in Turkestan at
the beginning of the twentieth century, and coincided with 1906-1908, the
second period covered 1913-1915.
The article analyzes the formation of the Turkestan press and its
main directions. In addition, the problems that hindered the development
of the national press and journalism are highlighted from the point of view
